Here at Simply Southern Kennel our
females are selectively bred to a male that compliments
her conformation, size, color, pattern and coat along
with pedigree. All dogs here at Simply Southern must
demonstrate excellent temperaments. How often we breed
our females depends on such factors as age, size of
female, last litter size, labor/delivery ease or
complications etc. We strive to provide quality care,
good nutrition and preventative maintenance that
includes (vaccines/dewormings) so our females are in top
shape prior to breeding. This helps to ensure a healthy
pregnancy, easy delivery and very robust puppies.
We want you to understand at Simply
Southern that we feel that there is nothing low quality
in purchasing a pet quality puppy from a responsible
breeder. A pet quality puppy from a responsible,
ethical breeder is by far more superior than purchasing
a show quality puppy from a puppy mill.
We are
STATE LICENSED by the Georgia Department of
Agriculture's Division of Animal Protection.
Simply Southern is a team of two
breeders. We home raise all of the puppies, and they are
treated as part of our family. One breeder alone can not
produce enough quantity to keep a website working all
year long--unless they are mass producing, or puppy
mills. We team together to raise select litters, so that
we offer the finest in quality, and can dedicate much
time to each individual puppy!
Prices:
Simply
Southern would like for you to know that if you are
looking for inexpensive dogs then you probably won’t see
that here at our facility. We strive to stay at a
reasonable price so that everyone has the opportunity to
enjoy one of our puppies. WE do not decrease the
quality of care our dogs receive to meet the lowest
advertised price on dogs in papers or on the internet.
All of our dogs start out with fair prices but many
times price is determined by the breed. The size of the
pup, the color of the pup, the pedigree of the pup, and
breeding or pet quality all determine the price. Prices
also are reflected based on the expense involved for us
to properly care for the dogs. Many of the small breed
dogs require c-sections to ensure the puppies arrive
here safe and healthy. Often times the breed of dog is
in high demand or harder to locate. Regular shots and
wormings and veterinarian care require some of the
prices to be pricey.
Deposits:
Due to
the demand of our puppies, we will not hold any puppy
without a deposit. All puppies will remain available
for purchase until a deposit or payment is received.
Our opinion is to overnight your deposit or payment.
This will ensure securing your puppy in a timely manner.
All deposits are non-refundable unless something
unforeseen happens while the puppy is still in our
care. Deposits will hold your puppy until 8 weeks of
age providing that the puppy is fully weaned or longer
if other arrangements have been agreed upon by both
parties. Checks may be used as a deposit as long as the
check is able to clear the bank by the time the puppy is
to be shipped or picked up.
Picking up of your puppy:
The balance of pup is to be paid in
full on or before pick up. Cash only upon pick up.
Unfortunately we can not accept checks at time of pick
up. We gladly accept Visa and Mastercard through
Paypal. Paypal can be completed by yourself. This
ensures that you will not have to provide your personal
information to a third party. You DO NOT have to have a
Paypal account to pay by paypal.
We at Simply Southern can not
guarantee against size or color of puppies as grown
adults. However, we can estimate the information by
parents size and colors. We do not guarantee that all
pups quality for breeding and be sold as pets only.
This will be decided upon our discretion.
We do provide airline travel and
shipping by ground under certain conditions. Shipping
charges start at $300.00 which include airfare, travel
crate, and health certificate.
There are some items that we recommend
that you bring when picking up your new puppy from
shipping. Your puppy will be hungry and thirsty upon
arrival. Please take a few minutes when you pick up your
puppy from the airport to take him/her out of their
crate and cuddle with your new puppy for a few minutes
to reassure the pup that it will be fine. Please also
offer him or her some fresh water. A tube of Nutri-Cal
(A high caloric palatable dietary supplement) on hand is
also beneficial. Nutri-Cal comes in a tube. You can
then squeeze some out onto your finger and offer it to
the puppy. Your puppy has been bathed prior to their
trip. However, your puppy may have soiled itself along
its trip. Please have fresh puppy pads, newspaper, or
towels to replace his or her current bedding. Bring a
wet cloth or a “wet one” to clean your puppy if
necessary. We are certain this will help your puppy to
have a more pleasant experience. PLEASE NOTIFY US BY
EMIAL OR TELEPHONE ONCE YOU HAVE PICKED UP YOUR BABY
SAFELY.
Hypoglycemia is a disorder of the
Central Nervous System caused by drop in Blood Sugar.
It occurs mostly in toy breeds, but it can also occur in
other sizes as well. Hypoglycemia can occur without
warning when:
----A pup goes to a new home or is separated from
littermates
----Undergoes a stress--like travel or flying
----Misses a meal or does not eat full meals, also if
he/she doesn't get enough protein
----Becomes chilled
----Is overtired/exhausted from too much
play/handling--Just like your child, if they don't eat,
no playing!
Signs to look for are as follows: depression, weakness,
being wobbly or jerky, and the head appears to be tilted
to either the left or right. More severe signs are:
neck appears stiff or ina locked position (body may
appear the same way), teeth may be clamped tightly,
convulsion, seizures, or come--all of these will result
in death within a short period of time if not treated.
If you pup is this severe, head to a vet immediately
after doing "treatment", shown below.
TREATMENT
The blood levels of glucose MUST be restored
immediately! DO NOT HESITATE, don't wait to assume
he/she will feel better later, or he will eat more
later, HIS/HER LIFE IS AT STAKE. If your puppy is
conscious, rub some honey/syrup onto it's gums and
tongue. (do not put excessive amounts into it's mouth,
because it is not coordinated enough to swallow
correctly and will aspirate it into the lungs, which
could kill it for sure) The pup should begin to improve
within about 10 minutes. At this point, give 3cc honey,
just a tiny bit at a time and wait for the pup to
swallow before adding more. If the dog showed severe
symptoms before administering, head immediately to the
vet. (or if the dog does not improve)> The vet may need
to start an IV drip.
PREVENTION
Have food and water available 24 hours a day. The best
place for your puppy is in a confined area where he/she
does not have to travel far to reach its' bowls. Little
ones often get discouraged during cold days or nights to
go long distances to eat/drink because they want to stay
in their warm beds. The best bed we have found is a
child's playpen. They can have a warm bed on one end,
and their wee-wee pad and food/water on the other end.
MAKE SURE YOU WATCH YOUR PUPPY EAT 3 MEALS A DAY--Don't
put it down and assume he/she will eat. Give your pup
10 minutes to eat, if he eats nothing, you will need to
syringe feed 4--8 cc of Gerber baby food (amount depends
on size of pup). You may also add 1 tbsp of honey in
his/her water--change every 24 hours.
As the pup gets older and used to its
surroundings, constant care will not be required. You
will be given the names of the foods you need for your
puppies diet before she/he is shipped or picked up. Here
are some of our favorites for meals (3 a day)
---always leave down a bowl of Bil-Jac puppy--dry food,
can be found at Petsmart or Petco
---Mighty dog, lamb and rice formula
---cottage cheese
---Gerber baby food (human baby food)
stage 1--chicken and chicken gravy--this is what we
syringe feed if the pup decides he wants to be picky and
not eat. (NO skipped meals allowed for the tinies!)
---deli turkey--cut into very small
pieces
Danger!
There are great dangers out doors for
all small dogs that do not threaten his canine cousins
that weigh more than 15 pounds. They are the right meal
size for a bird of prey or a coyote. Large hawks,
eagles, and owls have been known to swoop down on pets
and carry them away. If they can carry away a large
rabbit, a small Chihuahua or Yorkie comes as little
challenge. Coyotes are becoming a common danger in some
city fringes and suburbs.
